Inclusion is central to our ethos and underpins everything we do. We take time to understand each child as an individual, creating a nurturing environment where they feel safe, respected, and supported to develop at their own pace. Our Experienced and Supportive SEND Team

We are extremely proud to be one of the only nurseries in Harrogate with a formally qualified Level 3 SENDCo. Our SEND provision is led by Marie Smith, our Deputy Manager, who holds the Level 3 SENDCo qualification and brings extensive experience, deep understanding, and a calm, thoughtful approach to supporting children with additional needs. Marie works closely with our Manager, Hannah Richardson, to ensure inclusive practice is embedded across every area of nursery life.

Alongside this specialist leadership, all members of our team receive regular SEND training throughout the year. This ensures our practitioners are confident, informed, and equipped with up-to-date strategies to support every child with sensitivity, insight, and truly personalised care.

How we keep in touch

WellComm

A respected speech and language toolkit that helps us identify communication strengths and areas where extra support may be needed. It provides clear, targeted activities to build early listening, speech and language skills.

Makaton and Signing Support

Many of our practitioners use Makaton signs and symbols to support communication, making interactions more accessible and reducing frustration. Signing is used throughout the day to promote understanding, confidence and expression.

Autism Support Strategies

We have strong experience supporting autistic children and use structured, research-backed methods to help with communication, sensory regulation, transitions, routines and emotional understanding. Visual timetables, personalised sensory strategies and targeted communication tools are all part of our offer.

Emotional and Sensory Regulation Tools

We use a range of calming strategies including sensory baskets, weighted cushions, quiet spaces, fidget tools and personalised regulation plans to help children manage their feelings and feel safe and settled.
